How Billing Works: Automation-Based Plans, Explained
August 13, 2026 · 6 min read
social.fluxx runs on four plans, Starter, Growth, Pro, and Scale, each metered by how many automations a workspace can run at once rather than by contacts, DM volume, or the number of Instagram accounts you connect. Here's exactly what that means and how it plays out in practice.
What counts as an automation
An automation is a single keyword campaign bound to a trigger — a post, a reel, a story reply, or an inbound DM. It's the thing that watches for a match and sends the response. Each one you create counts as one against your plan's limit, however many keywords it matches and however many DMs it goes on to send.
Contacts and DM volume aren't metered at all. Every plan includes unlimited of both, with Meta's own sending limits as the only ceiling. That's deliberate: automated DMs are replies to people who acted first, so volume tracks your engagement rather than being a cost you have to ration.
The four tiers
Starter is $5/month for 2 automations, Growth is $13/month for 5, and Pro is $18/month for 8. Scale is $24/month and lifts the cap entirely, with unlimited automations. Indian customers are billed in rupees instead — ₹150, ₹550, ₹750, and ₹1,000 respectively — plus 18% GST.
Annual billing is charged at ten months' price for twelve, which works out to roughly two months free. Every tier includes up to 6 connected Instagram accounts, unlimited contacts and DM sends, tracked links with click stats, follow-gated links, and full DM logs. The automation count is the only thing that differs between them.
What happens at your limit
Nothing stops working. Every automation you already have keeps running and DMs keep sending exactly as before. What the limit blocks is the creation of the next automation.
There's no overage billing on any tier — the cap is hard. From there it's a binary choice: upgrade to a tier with a higher limit, or delete an automation you've stopped using to free up a slot. That keeps the bill predictable in a way that per-contact metering can't, since a single viral post can't generate a surprise invoice.
The free trial
Every new workspace starts with a 15-day trial covering the full feature set and 1 automation, with no credit card required. If you don't subscribe by the end of it, existing automations keep running but you can't create another until you pick a plan.
Payment and cancellation
Payments run through Razorpay, supporting cards, UPI, and netbanking. There's no long-term contract, subscriptions run monthly or yearly, and cancelling is a direct action from within Settings > Billing rather than requiring an email or support ticket.
The takeaway
The bill is set by how many automations you run at once, not by how many people you message, how many DMs you send, or how many Instagram accounts you connect. Pick the tier whose automation count matches how you actually work, and you'll rarely think about billing again.
