Switching From ManyChat: What to Expect

September 5, 2026 · 6 min read

Moving off ManyChat, or any established automation tool, raises a practical question before it raises a philosophical one: what actually happens to your existing setup, and how much rebuilding is involved? Here's a realistic walkthrough.

What doesn't transfer automatically

Automation platforms don't share campaign data or flow logic with each other, so keyword triggers, message copy, and flow structure built inside ManyChat need to be rebuilt in the new tool rather than imported. The good news is that comment-to-DM logic tends to be conceptually simple, a keyword, a message, an optional link, so rebuilding a campaign usually takes minutes rather than hours once you know what you're recreating.

What does carry over

The underlying asset, your Instagram account and its audience, isn't going anywhere. Connecting it to a new tool is a standard Meta OAuth flow: authorizing the new app to manage comments and messages on the account you already own. Past DM conversations inside the 24-hour messaging window remain accessible through Instagram itself regardless of which tool is connected.

A realistic timeline

For a single account running a handful of active campaigns, connecting the new tool and rebuilding keyword triggers typically takes well under an hour. The main thing worth doing carefully is a short overlap period, running the old and new tool's automations side by side isn't possible on the same account at the same time, so it's worth picking a low-traffic window to make the actual cutover.

The takeaway

Switching tools means rebuilding campaign logic, not migrating data, since your Instagram account and audience stay exactly where they are. For most accounts, that rebuild is a short, one-time task, not an ongoing burden.
