Why We Built Billing on Razorpay for Indian Businesses
August 21, 2026 · 5 min read
social.fluxx runs its billing on Razorpay rather than Stripe, and for Indian customers specifically, that choice matters in ways that go beyond which logo shows up at checkout.
Local payment methods that actually work
Razorpay supports the payment methods Indian customers actually use day to day: UPI, netbanking, and domestic cards, alongside standard international card processing. That means paying for social.fluxx doesn't require a customer to have an international card or navigate a checkout flow built primarily around US and European payment habits.
Regulatory fit and settlement
Razorpay holds a full RBI Payment Aggregator Cross-Border license, which allows it to properly handle both domestic and international transactions for an India-incorporated business. That's a meaningfully different regulatory position than a purely domestic payment license, and it's the reason Razorpay was the better structural fit given where social.fluxx's parent company is based.
Settlement is also faster and doesn't carry the forex markup that cross-border card processing through some international-first providers can add for Indian sellers.
What this means day to day
For Indian customers, it means a checkout experience with familiar, local payment options and no unnecessary currency-conversion friction. Each of the four tiers is a standard recurring Razorpay subscription, and there's no separate hosted billing portal, cancellation is a direct in-app action instead.
The takeaway
Razorpay was chosen specifically because it fits an India-based business and India-based customers better, not as a generic payment processor swap. UPI, netbanking, and local card support make checkout straightforward for the audience social.fluxx is built for.
